Hi, I'm Osvaldo Uribe.

I'm a Chilean-Canadian painter based in Montreal, originally from Valparaíso, Chile — a city where the light changes as dramatically as the seasons, and where I first learned to see color as feeling rather than fact.

I studied Graphic Design, but I was always the one filling sketchbooks instead of notebooks. After 20 years working in design, I felt the call to return to what started it all: creating with my hands, painting with emotion, and exploring the human experience through color and form.

Today I paint figurative male nudes using a Fauvist technique — bold, unnatural color used to carry feeling rather than realism. Water and fire run through the work as recurring metaphors, and much of it draws on Andean and South American ritual symbolism. I work primarily in acrylics on canvas, paper, and wood panel, and each piece is signed "OSV" with the exact date, time, and temperature it was completed — a small ritual of my own.

My work blends memory, identity, and desire — it's about learning how to belong, and what it means to be seen. Now I paint, sculpt, and experiment, always in search of connection, ritual, and meaning.

Every piece is an original, made once, by hand — nothing here is a print. Originals and works on paper are available in my store.
